The NJSRC is not just our professional organization, it is YOU! Why does this matter? If you are you interested in furthering your career, getting involved is a great place to start! How? By participating within the society, you will broaden your professional network, be seen as a leader, (key in building a better resume). and gain working knowledge of Respiratory Care on national and state levels.
2015 is an election year and there are several seats on the board for which we are looking for names of nominees who will bring enthusiasm and action to the NJSRC. In return, you are rewarded with the sense of accomplishment, pride in profession, inspiration and motivation!
Below are the positions and descriptions which will be opening this year. Executive Officer positions are open for those that have previously held board positions, while Board Officer positions are open for public candidates.
Executive Officers
All board officers participate in the implementation and evaluation of the society goals. They assist in the function of committees under their charge. All executive officers must make the commitment to the society by attending a majority of meetings within a twelve-month period, participating in conferences and fundraising membership activities.
The Executive Committee of the Board of Directors shall consist of the President, President-Elect, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Immediate Past-President. They shall have the power to act for the Board of Directors between meetings. The Executive Committee shall also function as the Budget committee.
Position Descriptions
President-Elect | The President-elect automatically becomes the President at the conclusion of the President’s term of office. He / She also is the acting President, assuming all of the duties of the President, in the event of the President’s absence, disability or resignation. |
Vice President | The Vice President shall perform such duties as shall be assigned by the President and the Board of Directors. In the event of a vacancy in the office of President-Elect, the Vice President shall then assume the duties. |
Secretary | The Secretary is in charge of keeping the minutes of each meeting, conducting roll calls, tallying votes, circulating pertinent correspondence and forwarding copies of the minutes to the Officers and Executive Office of the AARC. The Secretary is also required to perform any additional duties the President may assign. |
Treasurer | The Treasurer is responsible for monitoring the budget and for preparing the budget for the following year. The Treasurer shall see that full and accurate accounts are kept, submit quarterly financial reports. The Treasurer also endorses checks, notes, or other orders for the payment of bills; disbursing funds as authorized by the Board of Directors. |

Positions Descriptions
(2) Directors-at-Large | The Directors-at-Large shall be responsible for supervising all business and activities of the NJSRC within the limitations of the bylaws and society standing rules. Determine remuneration, stipends, and expenses, the amount to be considered after review of the budget. Each director will also be responsible for the oversight of committees when the chair is not a member of the board. |
(1) Delegate | The Delegates will represent the members of the society at the AARC House of Delegate (HOD) meetings. The Delegation’s duties shall conform to and will be specified under the rules of the House of Delegates. The Delegation is responsible for recruiting and maintaining NJSRC membership. The delegates will be required to attend each HOD meeting. If neither delegate is available to attend the HOD meeting, they will notify the board with appropriate notice as to arrange a substitute delegation to attend the HOD meeting. |
Northern and Southern Region Directors | The Regional Directors shall serve on the board for their respective regions as defined in the bylaws. Each Regional Director is elected at regional level and shall serve as voting members of the NJSRC Board of Directors. The Regional Director may have regional officers and representatives necessary to perform the region business. They will also be responsible for hosting one education conference in their region in coordination with the education committee. |
