A lot has happened at the Jersey Shore since we met last year for the NJSRC annual conference and the education committee has worked very hard to make sure this year’s conference meets and exceeds everyone’s expectations.
The program presented will be approved for 13 CRCEs by the AARC and will contain topics that are relevant and timely to all aspects of respiratory care and the future of the profession. As last year’s program, we will continue to offer CRCEs on pulmonary function testing and Pediatrics / Neonatal practice to help fulfill those certifications requirements.
Some of the highlights of the conference will include Kenneth Capek presenting Wednesday afternoon on Medical Ethics, and Thursday, Charles Crugnola and Lori-Ann Ligon will present on keeping patients and employees safe during disasters. On Friday, David Gourley will speak on the “Never Event” in patient safety. The conference will also feature the NJSRC President, Daryl Rogers speaking on the future of respiratory care in the state, followed by the AARC Education Chairperson Joseph Sorbello speaking on the challenges we as respiratory therapists face in the field as well as interesting opportunities.
The exhibit hall will contain the newest and latest of technology and will be open starting Wednesday evening and be open at various times during the program. This year, will have a fantastic raffle prize for attendees who, at the NJSRC booth, e-mail their legislature in favor of HR 2619. Also, we will have a special relief fund set-up where you can make donations to benefit the victims of last year’s Superstorm Sandy which so deeply impacted our state.
One of the highlights of last year’s conference was the night that we danced the night away in the Tropicana’s Boogie Nights club. Not to disappoint anyone, the club will once again be open on Wednesday night for a private party for all the attendees.
